Hi Georgette,

Sorry it took so long to respond to your question. I usually leave star anise whole, but you can grind it if you use it right away. I wouldn't grind it and store it for any length of time, because that might cause it to degrade. Hope that helps!

Thanks for visiting!

Hi Alicia,

It's not the lathering that's the problem, it's the chemicals used to produce the lather. In most cases, these are harmful substances such as sodium lauryl sulfate. Here's a link to an article on Naturalnews.com with more information about the dangers of this substance if you're interested in a more in-depth answer: http://www.naturalnews.com/033932_sodium_lauryl_sulfate_shampoo.html.

Thanks for stopping by!

what is the issue with lathering shampoos?
Nothing against the instructions given here, just heard it's better to have shampoos that don't lather, but no information on the harms of it, nor why those that don't lather are better.

I'm using organic shampoo now but would love to dabble with making my own natural shampoo. Most conventional shampoos contain a lot of toxic chemicals that are so gross. There should be a complete ban on many of them like parabens.

Thank you so much for your warning, Debra. I appreciate you taking the time to comment and I urge all of my readers to use caution with all essential oils. I believe part of your problem may have been that the water was too hot and not so much that the oregano oil caused the burns. I've never heard of the oil itself causing problems like this. However, this is a wonderful reminder that all herbs and oils have different effects on different people. For this reason, everyone should consult a qualified doctor and/or herbalist before using natural remedies at home.

Please add a warning to your site letting everyone know they should not inhale hot steam with oregano oil over the stove top especially if the water is too hot or boiling. I suffered burns to my Esophagus and now I'm on a liquid diet while taking Carafate liquid coating medicine given to me by my GI Specialists. I became seriously ill and had to go the hospital. Please, this is very dangerous - please add a warning.

Thank you,

Debra

Our family has been dealing with this for the past several years and believe me it is not a easy process. Medications but always with side effects, sometimes one has to wonder which is worse the anxiety or the side effects. It is nice to see someone like you promoting the natural way. Thank you so much for sharing
